Lego digital designer video issue8/6/2023 The LEGO Digital Designer (LDD) website will close on January 31st, after which time LDD will no longer be available for download. Studio will replace LEGO Digital Designer as the official virtual LEGO building software going forward. The LEGO Digital Designer website will shut down at the end of January.īrickLink Studio welcomes LEGO Digital Designer users.īillund, Denmark – January 12th, 2022: Today, the LEGO Group announces that BrickLink LEGO® BrickLink Studio to replace LEGO Digital Designer as the LEGO ![]() Users who have installed the program already will be able to continue to use it, and LDD will continue to be available unofficially from third-party download sites. However, the company now says it plans to remove the download page altogether. Although LEGO announced way back in 2016 that LDD would no longer be supported, over the past few years it has continued to receive infrequent updates and even a selection of newer elements. Studio supports most files created in LDD, LDRAW, and some other formats, and supports features such as automatically populating a BrickLink wanted list. While LEGO says it will continue to use a version of LDD internally, it is putting forward BrickLink’s Studio software as the officially supported digital building program, which LEGO acquired in 2019 when it purchased BrickLink. Thank you all for listening.Today LEGO has announced that it is finally and completely sunsetting LEGO Digital Designer (LDD), the company’s digital building program that was first introduced in 2004 as a consumer version of LEGO’s internal design software. So I would ideally like a plugin that allows us to import files from LDD. Maybe I'm missing something but Im pretty sure its just non existent. I've looked on the Autodesk plugin site and did not see anything for LDD. I don't want to make every piece because I want them to be REAL Legos, at the real size. Which is rough when every Film has to have characters, and the characters you want to use or make cannot be used in the film. All third party apps similar to LDD have almost no minifigure selections. And it definitely changes EVERY model in some way no matter what it is. If I export something from LDD and it has parts that the third party doesn't recognize, it just deletes that part, or parts. You might be asking, "So you can get it there, what's the problem?" Well, no parts library has the amount of parts that Lego Digital Designer has. I use two third party applications to get LDD models to Maya. ![]() ![]() Either way, all I want is the ability to export files from Lego Digital Designer to Maya without a third party or going through to add each individual piece. The Lego Movie people had a plugin for maya, nothing on the internet is very specific but it seems that either you exported individual pieces to maya or you exported models. I would love to make these types of films that look like stop motion but are animation, but the issue is Maya cannot open any type of file type that LDD can export to. There are other people here who have asked in the past for this but it may have been forgotten overall. I started using Maya to make stop motion like films but really be animation.

Unity learn tutorials reddit8/6/2023 ![]() Mindset: "How can I modify what I've learned? What if my enemies shoots stuff and traps shoots stuff when near it. The concept that you learned is to force an object in a direction. To further make knowledge concrete, tey to apply the new concept in different situasions. To add, once done with following a tutorial, try to do everything on your own (homework) to see if you can do it. Except making 4X games, because honestly fuck that for a joke and I wish we had more resources on good approaches towards tile/hex class management. When those two points are 'achieved', you realize that tutorials are now a resource for learning rather than a crutch or prison. I think that exact moment is when most people realize the vastness of even small-scope games, and how insanely big their original ideas or goals were. This is where you genuinely deviate from tutorials, and look at design through a completely new appreciation of complexity. The second big milestone is the moment you write down a feature or user story that you desire, and then see it working in the game. You might use print-strings, might research it, might refactor/rebuild your stuff but you figured it out and fixed it. You see something not working, and you incrementally debug your stuff to identify why. There are a couple of key threshold moments for non-programmers in seeing their own progress: the first is resolving your first bug. You'll immediately find that even the smallest scope ideas actually have a ton of functionality required to even start testing an idea and in doing this, you'll actually become increasingly familiar with concepts, approaches and solutions rather than just being stuck on tutorials. What helps tremendously is to pick a thing and then break it down by user stories (as an x, I want to do y, for whatever reason). This is an incredibly good piece of advice! It's exactly how I (non-programmer) started getting comfortable building gameplay prototypes without feeling constrained to tutorials. ![]() Now you've got steps 11-20 that you are researching. A week goes by and you can now do steps 1 - 10 without google. You do this over and over and over until eventually you have amassed an understanding of how things work. Google 'How to click on things in game Unity'."Ok i want it to happen when i click on the ball not when I click play every time".Ok cool now it only happens once when i hit play. "Ok so i only want to put force on the ball once." Ok I fixed that.Ok cool i got it to put a force on the ball but when i click play the ball flies forever.yea thats a good start." (lets say I didn't know how to do this part). "I want to click on the ball and have it shoot off. What does that entail?".Its ok not to know all the details of this yet so for now lets do simple and build upon it in Either direction. Just made this up btw so you can see my process. I want to fling a ball that knocks over shit when it hits and gives the player points based on how much they 'destroyed'. Disney queen of hearts8/6/2023 ![]() ![]() You (obviously) can’t see outside, but the windows are gorgeous and offer a nice ambiant light. The seating area continues the whimsy, with booths in the center of the restaurant looking like hedges outside the Queen of Hearts’ Castle and with details, like this Cheshire Cat figure, lining the walls of the ‘maze.’īooths along the outer edge of the restaurant have stained glass windows featuring characters from Alice in Wonderland. ![]() Saw it on several plates other guests had, and it looked delicious. Of the items we didn’t try, the “Flank Steak with Gravy” looked the best. (Yep, total sucker for marketing prominence.) This is great for visual folks like myself who normally just order whatever on the menu has a photo. You’ll also notice some murals along the wall, featuring scenes from the film (all of which include the Queen of Hearts, I believe).Īll of the restaurants at Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea have displays with very accurate representations of the items available. Details galore, including the checked floor, heart stanchions, and pots and pans hanging from the ceiling. I’m sure the Cast Members wondered if we were ever going to go order… Unlike the “Let the Memories Begin!” sign that cluttered up the Magic Kingdom Train Station for a few years, this is pretty cool.Īnother close-up. More cards line the path towards the buffet line, with the Queen of Hearts overhead and a sign reading “Let the Banquet Begin!” These characters, and characters throughout the restaurant, make for excellent photo ops.Īs you can probably tell, it’s a very vibrant restaurant. Upon entering through the castle wall, guests immediately encounter a doorknob-face threshold and a bunch of card people (I’m guessing these all have proper names–sorry, we’re not Alice in Wonderland fans). The plus side of this is that it’s never difficult to find a table inside, as guests are not allowed to loiter about or save tables. There’s at least one outside managing the line (if there is one), plus the normal staffing inside, and additional Cast Members to escort guests to seats (during prime hours, you cannot seat yourself). Besides Cape Cod Cook-Off, it’s definitely Tokyo Disney Resort’s most popular restaurant.ĭue to its popularity, there are a lot of Cast Members working the restaurant. This is the main restaurant in Fantasyland and it has a really fun, ‘kawaii’ theme, so it’s packed during prime dining hours. ![]() If you dine here during a busy time of year or on a weekend, plan to line up 10 minutes before the restaurant opens, or at around 3 p.m. If you’re planning on dining here (and you absolutely should), we recommend going on a weekday during an off-hour. You’re unlikely to miss it, though, as the ‘hedge maze’ and forced perspective castle on top of the restaurant are both pretty eye-grabbing. In terms of exact location, Queen of Hearts Banquet Hall is between ‘it’s a small world’ and Haunted Mansion in Fantasyland. If for that reason alone, we highly recommend everyone visit it.įortunately, it’s also one of the coolest and best counter service restaurants at Tokyo Disneyland, giving you two reasons to visit. Unlike many attractions and restaurants at Tokyo Disneyland that are direct lifts from the Magic Kingdom or Disneyland, Queen of Hearts Banquet Hall is unique to Tokyo. To us, this isn’t a big deal– trying the awesome snacks at Tokyo Disneyland is such a big part of the experience that we don’t want to fill up at meals! As far as Tokyo Disneyland goes, the portions here are on the large side, but still a bit small by American standards (expect for desserts, some of which are quite large). The cuisine here is a mix of items, none of which will be unfamiliar to American palates, although nothing is your standard burgers and fries fare, which is nice. Thanks to fun theming and excellent food, Queen of Hearts Banquet Hall is a restaurant that is well-deserving of its hype. It is likely the most popular restaurant in Tokyo Disneyland, with waits to get inside very common for prime dining hours. Queen of Hearts Banquet Hall is a counter service, buffeteria-style restaurant in Tokyo Disneyland’s Fantasyland themed to the Queen of Hearts’ Castle from Alice in Wonderland. Pirate utopia book8/6/2023 ![]() Sailing in the warm waters of the Caribbean and off the coast of chilly New England, past the white sands of Tortuga and the rocky shoals of Newport, pirates like William “Captain” Kidd, “Calico” Jack Rackham, Thomas Tew, and female captains like Anne Bonney and Mary Reade were simultaneously celebrated and condemned. A 1924 fantasy pictorial map of Pirate Island via Wikimedia Commons Such men and women were floating subversives, “castaways and runaways (from slavery, military service, impressment, and/or forced immigration) living on the colonial fringe,” as Dawdy and Bonni write. But the prevalent image of the pirate-the wooden-legged buccaneer, the eye-patch-wearing corsair, the swashbuckling privateer, the rum-drinking, pipe-smoking, parrot-petting renegado-finds its origins during the “Golden Age of Piracy,” running from roughly 1650 to 1730. Piracy itself has a history that goes back to whenever the first group of sea-faring bandits absconded with goods that weren’t properly theirs a millennium-and-a-half before Christ, and both Greek and Phoenician sailors were known to work as brigands. Like the imagined cowboy and Indian, or the gypsy and bohemian, pirates have long been configured as living in thrall to their own code, free of magistrate and minister, privy only to the demands of the high sea. Since the seventeenth-century, even while the Barbary Coast pirates terrorized Europeans with the threat of enslavement, piracy has still offered an idealized version of prosperity and freedom. Indeed, he’d live for another decade after the play’s staging, not violently upon the sea, but rather “in a most princely and magnificent state,” wearing “curious and costly clothing,” within his Tunisian pleasure palace, surrounded by riches and women-still an Englishman, still a Muslim, and still very much a pirate. Pirates have long been configured as living in thrall to their own code, free of magistrate and minister, privy only to the demands of the high sea.Īny audience awkwardness of rooting for a Muslim was placated when Daborne had Ward violently die in the last act, though the real pirate celebrated in pamphlet and ballad was still alive. ![]() The English professor Laurie Ellinghausen explains in her book Pirates, Traitors, and Apostates that such pamphlets and plays, broadsheets and ballads imagined “Ward as a figure of masculine bravado, even a hero.” Of course, as the title, A Christian Turn’d Turk, indicates, Ward’s tremendous wealth was made possible by a willing conversion to Islam a few years before the staging of Daborne’s play, when he took the name Yusuf Raïs. A popular ballad of the time celebrates the corsair’s victories: In 1605, Ward sailed to the Mediterranean, eventually establishing Tunis as his base while harassing Dutch, Venetian, and English ships. Pirates, explain the anthropologists Shannon Lee Dawdy and Joe Bonni in Anthropological Quarterly, have been “characterized as predators, parasites, criminals, outlaws, rebels, heroes, heroines, evildoers, buffoons, opportunists, armed robbers, raiders, plunderers, bandits, brigands, liberators, rogues, robin hoods, rapscallions, and bloodthirsty killers.” For seventeenth-century audiences, smarting at their own oppressions, Ward may have fit a few of those descriptions, some of them contradictory.ĭaborne had the actual Jack Ward to draw inspiration from: a former privateer who’d gone rogue, having supposedly speechified in a Plymouth tavern that ours is a “scurvy world, as scurvily we live in’t, we feed here upon the water, on the King’s salt beef, without ere a pence to buy us a Bissell when we come ashore,” according to Andrew Barker, author of a pamphlet about the pirate. In the play, Ward intones, “So that I rise, let the world sink, and heaven fall.”Īs with contemporary anti-heroes, audiences may have received a vicarious thrill watching Ward. For London audiences, Ward was an evocative anti-hero, a working-class Englishman punishing spoiled aristocrats, an embodiment of the promise that the world shall be turned upside down. The protagonist is Captain Jack Ward-a rogue, criminal, pirate-who terrorizes English ships and grows rich off their stolen treasure. ![]() Included on the 1612 listing of sanctioned plays known as the English Stationers Register, there is a work by Robert Daborne with the evocative title of A Christian Turn’d Turk. Logger steam train8/6/2023 ![]() Stauffer’s two Shays both burn oil, using 50-60 gallons per trip, along with 400-500 gallons of water.Īt the midway point, Stauffer stops the train to give passengers a chance to stretch their legs, take photographs and ask questions. Steam turns to droplets and falls as a light mist in the engine’s wake. It rushes above through the trees and dislodges dry needles and other debris, which gently float back to earth. Smoke and steam shoot from the engine’s stack. The Shay whooshes and chugs as Stauffer opens the throttle. “Settle back and listen to this engine work,” he says, referring to the 84-ton Shay. The lumber company scrapped its original Shays after the company ceased operations in 1931. The gear-driven Shay locomotive, invented in 1880 by Ephraim Shay, navigated steep grades and tight curves and made a good workhorse for mountain logging. Narrow-gauge tracks span 36 inches between the rails, while the spacing for standard railroad tracks is 56 ½ inches. Every day, the company’s 800 employees produced 80 flat cars loaded with logs. Once trees in one area were cut, the tracks were torn out and extended into a fresh section. The company built narrow-gauge tracks into the forest to haul logs. Boards were rough cut at the mill and then sent to Madera, via a 54-mile flume, where they were planed and dried. The lumber outfit used five Shay locomotives to haul logs to its mill at Sugar Pine, which was on Lewis Creek about three miles south of Fish Camp. With the cars softly clanking, Harkenrider tells about the history of the Madera Sugar Pine Lumber Co. While the big Shay can travel at up to 15 mph, Stauffer eases the throttle as the train descends into the forest. Although trees along the route are thick and lofty, the area was clear-cut during the heyday of the Madera Sugar Pine Lumber Co., which harvested nearly 1.5 billion board feet of lumber on 30,000 acres from 1899 to 1931. There is the old Hog Barn which is now the Petting Corral, the Blacksmith Shop which is now a part of the Museum, and the Old Slaughter House. This, my friends, is exactly why a Disney Heroes tier list is important. Hence, the most important part of Disney Heroes is getting the best characters and leveling them up. All you usually do is manage your team, so you don’t truly make decisions about which actions they make. This, in large part, is because of the nature of the idle RPG genre. ![]() Why Is a Disney Heroes Tier List Important?ĭisney Heroes is very much a game that’s all about the characters you take with you into battle. Some are more beneficial (or fun) to play and each one has different mechanics you need to work with. Lastly, there are tons of game modes you can choose from that provide different rewards and experiences. This opens more opportunities for you as a player because it also unlocks multiple game features. The more you boost your team’s level, the higher your heroes’ peak level will be. You can also level up your team by finishing various quests and campaigns. Of course, this isn’t the only thing that goes on within the game. Instead, you simply have a hand in choosing and curating the team you go into battle with. However, you don’t actively play a part in the fighting like other RPGs. You start by jumping into the main story and then fighting off a bunch of bad guys with your team. With all that said, Disney Heroes: Battle Mode simply plays like any old hero collector/idle RPG. Moreover, it’s a good enough idle mobile role-playing game if you prefer that style of mindless gameplay. For one thing, you get a rush of adrenaline when you finally get to unlock your favorite Disney character. ![]() While the game does feel like an attempt to milk Disney’s IP, the tactic works for many fans. Not to mention the character interaction in certain storylines can feel fresh and fun, especially when different worlds collide. Moreover, the (over a hundred) characters you can collect and even the environments are all callbacks to beloved Disney franchises. It has everything a Disneyphile would love, including nods from older movies like Atlantis and The Black Cauldron. What Is Disney Heroes: Battle Mode?
