Lego digital designer video issue8/6/2023 The LEGO Digital Designer (LDD) website will close on January 31st, after which time LDD will no longer be available for download. Studio will replace LEGO Digital Designer as the official virtual LEGO building software going forward. The LEGO Digital Designer website will shut down at the end of January.īrickLink Studio welcomes LEGO Digital Designer users.īillund, Denmark – January 12th, 2022: Today, the LEGO Group announces that BrickLink LEGO® BrickLink Studio to replace LEGO Digital Designer as the LEGO Users who have installed the program already will be able to continue to use it, and LDD will continue to be available unofficially from third-party download sites. However, the company now says it plans to remove the download page altogether. Although LEGO announced way back in 2016 that LDD would no longer be supported, over the past few years it has continued to receive infrequent updates and even a selection of newer elements. Studio supports most files created in LDD, LDRAW, and some other formats, and supports features such as automatically populating a BrickLink wanted list. While LEGO says it will continue to use a version of LDD internally, it is putting forward BrickLink’s Studio software as the officially supported digital building program, which LEGO acquired in 2019 when it purchased BrickLink. Thank you all for listening.Today LEGO has announced that it is finally and completely sunsetting LEGO Digital Designer (LDD), the company’s digital building program that was first introduced in 2004 as a consumer version of LEGO’s internal design software. So I would ideally like a plugin that allows us to import files from LDD. Maybe I'm missing something but Im pretty sure its just non existent. I've looked on the Autodesk plugin site and did not see anything for LDD. I don't want to make every piece because I want them to be REAL Legos, at the real size. Which is rough when every Film has to have characters, and the characters you want to use or make cannot be used in the film. All third party apps similar to LDD have almost no minifigure selections. And it definitely changes EVERY model in some way no matter what it is. If I export something from LDD and it has parts that the third party doesn't recognize, it just deletes that part, or parts. You might be asking, "So you can get it there, what's the problem?" Well, no parts library has the amount of parts that Lego Digital Designer has. I use two third party applications to get LDD models to Maya. Either way, all I want is the ability to export files from Lego Digital Designer to Maya without a third party or going through to add each individual piece. The Lego Movie people had a plugin for maya, nothing on the internet is very specific but it seems that either you exported individual pieces to maya or you exported models. I would love to make these types of films that look like stop motion but are animation, but the issue is Maya cannot open any type of file type that LDD can export to. There are other people here who have asked in the past for this but it may have been forgotten overall. I started using Maya to make stop motion like films but really be animation.
